Prices and rates: car service, repairs, towing and assistance
How pricing works at Benjamin Fix Service: a fixed price agreed by phone or after diagnosis, which does NOT change afterwards. No hidden fees, no surprise line items on the invoice – pay by cash or card, with a document for every amount.
- The quoted price stays fixed
- No hidden fees, no loading charge
- An invoice for every job
One simple principle: you learn the price before, not after
For towing and roadside assistance, we set the price on the phone, before we leave – based on the distance, the type of car and the situation you describe. For workshop jobs, you get the final price after diagnosis, as a written estimate. In both cases the rule is the same: the amount we quote is the amount you pay.
Why don’t we simply publish exact prices for everything on the site? Because we’d be lying: a 5 km tow doesn’t cost the same as a 50 km one, and a clutch on a small hatchback doesn’t cost the same as on an SUV. Instead of “from” prices that mysteriously grow at the end, we prefer an honest calculation, stated once – and honoured.
There’s another reason we work this way: a price stated once binds us, not you. Knowing the amount can’t be “adjusted” at the end, we have every incentive to ask the right questions from the start – which is why the estimate call is short and covers everything that matters: the distance, the type of car, anything unusual. The full conditions are in our terms and conditions.
Workshop prices: labour and common jobs
Labour listed separately from parts, so you can see exactly what you’re paying. Details on the repairs and servicing pages.
| Job | Rate |
|---|---|
| Labour (hourly rate) | 200 lei |
| Computer diagnostics | 250 lei |
| Extended service (oil + all filters) | 250–360 lei |
| Oil + oil filter change (labour) | 150–250 lei |
| Wheel alignment / steering adjustment | 250–400 lei |
| Air conditioning service (check + recharge) | 250–400 lei |
| Major jobs (timing, clutch, engine) | fixed-price estimate after diagnosis |
For any job you get a fixed-price estimate after diagnosis – and we start nothing without your approval. The price on the estimate is the price on the invoice.
Towing rates
Flatbed transport with loading and unloading included. Details on the towing page.
| Service | Rate | What’s included |
|---|---|---|
| Towing Timișoara / Dumbrăvița (car) | 300 lei | loading + unloading, passenger in the cab |
| Towing SUV / 4x4 | 350 lei | loading + unloading, adapted tie-down |
| Surrounding area 10–30 km | 300–500 lei | rate quoted before we set off |
| A1 motorway / ring road | 500–800 lei | non-stop response, both directions |
| National transport | 4 lei/km | per-km rate, set before departure |
| Waiting time on request | price quoted by phone | only if needed – you hear it in advance |
A separate “handling” or loading fee doesn’t exist here – it’s included. The price agreed on the phone doesn’t change en route.
Roadside assistance rates
Help on the spot, non-stop – details on the roadside assistance page.
| Call-out | Rate |
|---|---|
| Jump start (dead battery) | 300 lei |
| Flat tyre – wheel change on the spot | 300–500 lei |
| Fuel delivery | 400–600 lei |
| Door unlocking | 400–700 lei |
The rate depends on the distance to you and on the job – you hear the full amount on the phone, before we set off, and it stays fixed.
What affects the final price
So that nothing is left “at the driver’s discretion”, here are the exact factors behind our calculation:
- Distance – where we pick the car up and where it’s going; outside the city we charge per kilometre.
- Type of vehicle – an SUV or a van takes more than a compact car; lowered or damaged cars need special equipment.
- Time of the call-out – we’re available around the clock; if any rate difference applies to your hour, you hear it explicitly on the phone, before you accept.
- Difficulty – a car in a normal parking spot loads easily; one damaged in a crash, stuck or wedged into a tight spot takes recovery work and extra time.
Claiming through insurance (RCA / CASCO / roadside cover)
After an accident that wasn’t your fault, towing and repairs can usually be claimed against the other driver’s RCA (third-party liability) policy; with a CASCO (comprehensive) policy, your own insurer typically covers the tow up to the limit in your contract. Many policies include roadside assistance too – it’s worth checking your documents or calling your broker.
What we do to make the claim easy: you get an itemised invoice for all services and, if needed, the transport documents your insurer asks for. We recommend photographing the scene and the car before loading – and if the claim file confuses you, ask us and we’ll tell you plainly what we know from practice.
One tip from experience: check your policy before accepting a tow “arranged” by someone else – some insurers require partner providers, others reimburse any correct invoice. We provide the right paperwork in both scenarios, and the decision stays, as always, with you.
